Smith Flooring was among the first, and still isone of only a few, U.S. manufacturers to offer wood flooring that is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. This thirdparty certification means the lumber used to make the flooring was harvested from well-managed forests.Thanks to this FSC Certification, our products can be used to earn points under the U.S Green Building Council's LEED rating system.
Our decision to become FSC-certified is a reflection of our commitment to sound environmental practices throughout our company. Currently, all Smith Flooring products are available FSC-certified on request. In addition to purchasing all the FSC-certified lumber available in our area, we supplement our raw material supply with lumber from other sustainably-managed forests, fulfilling a company commitment to meet FSC's controlled wood standards with all the lumber we utilize. In addition to holding FSC Chain of Custody certification, Smith Flooring also maintains good standing at the highest level of the National Wood Flooring Association's Responsible Procurement Program. This program represents the wood flooring industry's efforts to promote environmentally and socially responsible forest management practices throughout the world by agreeing to source lumber only from suppliers who practice good stewardship.
